FAQ
Product Care

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

1. Why do the products in the Natur Line eventually fade (become dull white)?
Answer:
In the technological process of the Natur products we do not use any pigment. The products are in their raw cotton colour and after washing they become brighter due to laundry detergents. We recommend you to use laundry detergents for coloured laundry and do not to use detergents, which contain optical bleaching agents.

2. Why do towel borders shrink up after laundry?
Answer:
The fabrics tend to shrink up in the border area due to a different type of weaving. This can be reduced by stretching the wet towel more in the border area.

3. Can we wash towels of different colours at the same time?
Answer:
We recommend separate washing of light and dark colours of towels.

4. Do dark towels leak colour during washing?
Answer: No.

5. Which laundry detergents should we use?
Answer:
When washing coloured products use laundry detergents for coloured laundry, which do not contain optical bleaching agents. When washing whites use laundry detergents for whites.

6. Why do products experience pilling after washing (towels, satin bedlinen)?
Answer:
Pilling is the consequence of incorrect washing. Due to a number of revolutions that is too high or due to the washing machine not being full enough, too much friction is caused and this consequently leads to pilling. We recommend washing your clothes at 600 revolutions at the most, and the washing machine should be half full.

7. Why do towels not absorb?
Answer:
When washing towels, add less softener, because it reduces towel absorbency.

8. What is the advantage of towels made of micro modal fibres?
Answer:
Silky touch, brilliant colours and good water absorbency.

9. What to do if a thread is pulled out of a towel of bathrobe?
Answer:
The thread should be simply cut off. Do not pull it further.

10. Can we boil towels?
Answer:
Only those that bear a label with the 95°C symbol.

11. Why are some towels softer than others?
Answer:
Because of the material the towel is made of.

12. How deep are the edges of mattress sheets? Can they be used for higher mattresses?
Answer:
The edges of mattress sheets have a minimal depth of 25 cm and can be used for mattresses up to 20 cm of height without any problems (linen, satin). For higher mattresses we recommend the use of jersey sheets, which are stretchable and more adaptable (for example art. Sonja).

13. What is the advantage of fastening with zips on bed covers?  What to do if the zip gets damaged?
Answer:
Using a zip on bed covers is an advantage because of the time that you spend for changing the bedding and washing it. The bed covers should be washed on the outside and be zipped up. This prolongs the lifecycle of the bedding and of your washing machine. If the zip on the bed cover is damaged, you should change it. Bring it to the nearest Svilanit shop.

14. What is the difference between maco satin and batiste?
Answer:
Both products are made from high quality yarns (thinner yarn with longer basic fibres, from which the thread is made). The difference is in the basic binding of the fabric: satin has an atlas binding, whereas batiste has linen, eventually in combination with the effects of other bindings. Satin is processed in a different way and that is why it is more “shiny”. The products from both materials are of good quality.

15. Why do kitchen towels shrink up after being washed?
Answer: Because of the type of weaving.

16. Why is it recommended to use softener when washing the bedding and not when washing towels?
Answer:
The bedding that is washed with a softener tends to be less creased and can be ironed more easily. Towels, on the other hand, need to be absorbent, and this quality decreases when using softener.

17. Does the filling in pillows and cushions become lumpy after being washed numerous times?
Answer:
If care is regular – daily loosening of pillows, loosening of pillows during drying and drying on a flat surface – the filling does not become lumpy.

18. How to dry the washed quilt: hang it on a line or let it lie on a clothes rack?
Answer:
All quilted products should be dried on a flat surface and loosened up several times during drying. Drying in the sun is not recommended.

19. Do the quilts in the Medico Line breathe?
Answer:
The Medico Line products are filled with polyesters, which have the quality of natural materials and therefore breathe.

20. How is it possible that the quilts, filled with goose feathers or down, remain unchanged after washing them at 60 degrees? Why doesn’t the filling become lumpy?
Answer:
Down and goose feathers can be of different quality and processed in different ways. At Svilanit we offer our customers products that can be washed. We recommend washing and drying them according to the recommendations on the label.
